TBXC Wrap Up: Home Meet/Senior Night

Trumansburg Cross Country. A combination of incredible individuals forming one happy, running family. For years now, TBXC has put forth tremendous effort, winning countless divisional titles along the ride. Success is almost expected out of this group, as well as the level of class that has been surrounding this program for quite some time.

Tuesday afternoon brought the one and only home meet of the year for Trumansburg, giving it the shared title of "Home Meet/Senior Night". The large staff that makes up the Raider Report would like to give thanks to all the seniors who have participated throughout their high school years. To Rachel Husted, Jessica Prosser, Megan Feely, Zoe Weeks-Purdy, Henry Hanson, Evan Whittaker, and Keegan Moore, thank you for the time and effort that each one of you have put into the program. Your impact on the school and community does not go unnoticed.

After getting clipped for the top spot in last weekends race by Lansing, the Trumansburg Girls Cross Country team was eager for revenge. Leading the charge for Trumansburg was the sophomore duo of Ginny Clifford and Kaitlyn Feely. With Clifford finishing second and Feely third, the Raiders would go on to destroy all other competition, including the same Lansing team that beat them just a week ago. Other notable performers would be Emma Wright, Glenn Parker, and Elizabeth Dawson who rounded out the top ten runners in the field. Our ladies had 11 of the top 20 runners en route to a standout victory. Safe to say that the revenge on Lansing was completed.

On the boys side of things, it was a disappointing day for Neil Clifford and his army of runners. Our Raiders ran a solid race but pulled up just short of rival Lansing, who squeaked by Trumansburg, beating them by just three points.

Coach Clifford was slightly perturbed but as always, put a positive twist on the day. "Lansing stepped up and stole one from us in front of our home crowd. It stings a little bit, but hopefully it will provide motivation when we see them later in the season when there is a divisional and sectional title on the line. Redemption awaits."

There were some bright spots on the day, one of being Evan Whittaker, who after missing last season with an injury, leveled the rest of the competition on way to an astonishing time of 13:04. Joining Whittaker was junior Aiden Begeal who finished fourth overall on the day, keeping Trumansburg in the fight.

Next up for TBXC will be the Baldwinsvlle Invitational on Saturday!
