The once gentle summer breeze has now morphed into a chilling, crisp wind that blows with purpose through the sharp September air. There is no denying that Fall is back, and along with a cloud of pumpkin spice, the smell of competition is in the air.

The girls varsity soccer team has always given the Lansing Bobcats a tough time, but have not been able to register a win in quite some time. The last time the Lady Raiders defeated Lansing, Barack Obama was just beginning his first term as President of the United States. The chance for a victory presented itself on Saturday morning, as the Raiders faced the Bobcasts at home. In a defensive battle, the game ended with a nil-nil draw. Despite the lack of scoring, the match was exciting to view as a spectator.

Both teams struggled to create to convert the chances they created, as missed opportunities became a regularity. Trumansburg dominated possession for the majority of the match, weaving together passes into the middle and setting up attacking chances. Right in the heat of it all was senior midfielder Hannah Morpurgo, who in person is one of the nicest people you can meet, but on the soccer pitch can be quite the opposite. Hannah is an athlete who has no fear, and will go after every questionable ball with the intent to win it. Morpurgo facilitated the Raiders offense and came close to finding the back of the net multiple times. In front of Hannah was Taylor Miller, who had her work cut out for her, as she faced the back line of Lansing defenders all game long. Miller did a fine job taking on defenders as she consistently was seen as a threat with the ball, forcing two or three defenders to attempt to dispossess her. Last but not least the defense. The back line for Trumansburg is made up of Sydney Preston, Jenna Seafuse, Jadyn Wright and Tess Parker. Ball security was a huge part of game, and this group of ladies did an outstanding job protecting goalie Maddy Mikula. Even though Trumansburg was not able to collect a win, there was plenty of positive gameplay by Coach Stewart's team.

The Raiders will be traveling to Dryden on Wednesday afternoon for a game against the Purple Lions. That game will start at approximately 4:30.
