On April 21st a platoon of ten athletes from the Trumansburg Boys Track Team traveled to Bath to compete in the Ferd Stenta Invitational at Bath-Haverling High School. The long drive over the hill did not phase them in the least, as there were several notable performances by the “Legion of Doom”, starting with G.H. (as in Good Hurdler) Wood who scorched pr’s in the 110 Hurdles and the 400 M Hurdles, as he took first in the former and second in the latter out of 23 competitors. In addition to his his hurdling exploits, G. H. also had a foot in the winning 4 X 100 Relay. As a result of his perfomance, GH was named the outstanding sprinter for the meet.
Also bringing his A game on Saturday was Josiah Lopez, who soared above all other competitors, winning both the Long and Triple Jump. Not surprisingly, Josiah was awarded Best Jumper for the meet.
Other significant performances were posted by Noah Head, who ran a sub 2:06 800 Meters, good for second place, and Austin Grunder who also captured a second place finish with a 54.07 400 Meters.
In addition to these stellar performances, sophomore Aiden Begeal nailed a PR in the 3200 Meter run, ripping off a 10:48. Next up for the Trumansburg track teams is the Union Springs meet that will be taking place in Union Springs tomorrow, provided weather behaves.
