Last week the Trumansburg Girl's Basketball program had to wait all week before finally getting to play on Friday. It was a similar week as the Lady Raiders only had one game to prepare for, yet the game they were playing on Friday was a meaningful game in that it was Senior Night. The two seniors being honored on Friday were Katelyn Artibee and Audrey Godbey. Thank you to Katelyn and Audrey for the countless hours invested into the program. Your work is greatly appreciated. The game was another very close game for the Lady Raiders as the final score was 52-37. Sophomore Meredith Stilwell was inactive due to an illness, but Coach Flood's team fought till the last buzzer. Madison Mikula led all scorers with 15 points, with her sister, Mackenzie scoring 6 points as well. Senior Katelyn Artibee scored 7 points during her Senior Night game as well. Coach Flood stated that the absence of Stilwell really depleted the Lady Raider's backcourt. The JV team played their closest game of the year, as they played outstanding basketball against a strong Lansing team. The final score was 31-30 in favor of Lansing, but Coach Peterson's team played the "best basketball they have played all season". Kaitlyn Feely and Ashley Torres led the offensive attack for the Raiders, and Sarah Wertis had over 20 rebounds down in the post! Maddie Hager and Evelyn VanNess were both defensive threats throughout the game as their boxing-out and stealing ability helped the Raiders maintain possession and attack the opposition. Coach Peterson said that his team "did everything right" in the close game. This team has been fighting hard all year long, and the progress being made is noticeable. Like the varsity team, the JV team continues to fight hard with every game that is played. Rounding out the season for the Lady Raiders is Moravia on Wednesday and Whitney Point on February 11th. Keep working hard ladies! Go Raiders!
