January 21st marked the return of the Trumansburg Indoor Track and Field team to competition, where they would compete in a 20-team meet at SUNY Cortland. The meet that our athletes were participating in was titled the "607 Invite", and brought out some distinguished performances.

Sophomore Finley Edmonds was back to her dominant running, where she proceeded to take first place overall in the 300 meter race. Edmonds has proved to be a hard-working athlete, capable of becoming elite in whatever events she is active in. The success for the Lady Raiders did not stop with Edmonds, as they would have an abundant source of impressive performances. Senior Olivia Murray placed sixth overall in shot put, where she threw a solid 25' 07.50". In pole vault, Marie Griswold and Danielle Hunt went back to back in the standings with Hunt finishing sixth and Griswold finishing fifth. This duo of vaulters has been a force to be reckoned with all season long and are improving each week. Griswold didn't just show out on pole vault as she also finished fourth in the 55-meter race with a time of 10.36. Junior Sydney Preston help the Raiders by leaping into a top five placement in the triple jump event. Sydney jumped a stellar 32' 05.25". Rounding out a great day for the Lady Raiders was junior Hannah Morpurgo who finished in a top ten spot in the 1000-meter race with a time of 3:51.31.

Coach DeRaiche and Coach Ives were excited to get their boys track squadron back to the meet environment on Saturday. Coach Ives stated that the boys had been working "really hard as of late" and were "ready to face some competition". This is the first year of coaching indoor track for Ives, but he is having no trouble fitting in with the boisterous group of athletes. One of the best athletes on the team is Coach Ives' younger brother Sam, who had a stand out display in the 3200-meter run. Ives finished second overall with a time of 10:46.21. Ives also was on the second place 3200-meter relay team for Trumansburg. The 800-meter relay team for Trumansburg also finished second, narrowly missing out from the top spot. In the 600-meter race, three Trumansburg runners captured top ten spots, with sophomore Noah Head taking first place. In the 55-meter hurdles it was all GH Wood, who blew away the competition, easily securing first place. The 55-meter dash featured two Trumansburg runners placing in the top five. Keegan Moore and Jack Murphy went back to back with Moore taking third, and Murphy taking fourth. Both athletes did not call it a day there, as Moore went on to win the triple jump and Murphy going on to tie for first overall in pole vault alongside teammate Dominic Mikula. The Raiders are now beginning to work toward sectional competition, and are eager to get back on the track. Go Raiders!
