Trumansburg Boys Basketball vs. Southern Cayuga

After what seemed to be two weeks that would never end, the boys basketball program finally got to play their home opener on Friday night when they would take on the Chiefs of Southern Cayuga.

The JV team would end up losing a tough game, but show promise with sophomore leadership from Josiah Lopez, Kameron Lincoln, Jack Lincoln and Ryan Benedict. Freshman Dre Capers also has given Coach Mike Meyers a spark as a guard who is able to dissect the defense and use his vision for offensive production. Keep working hard boys!

The varsity team were up after the JV team, and were eager to tip off and play.

The Raiders started off very slow, as the Chiefs would jump out to a quick 7-2 lead, but after a few three pointers, the Raiders found themselves ahead and would not look back.

Austin Grunder sliced and diced his way through defenders all night long, earning himself 29 points and 18 rebounds. Offense wasn't the only thing working for Grunder as he recorded 5 blocks on defense. Joining the "block party" was junior Jake Shelley who recorded 3 blocks. Shelley also added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Raiders. Andrew Stewart, Dalton Kenney and Luke Richards all hit big three pointers in the game as well.

Next up for the boys basketball program is Tuesday night, where the Raiders will be taking on the Watkins Glen Senecas in Watkins Glen.
