Tuesday brought an emotional night for parents and players as Senior Night for our soccer teams. For the girls team Senior Night meant honoring team captain and leader Marie Griswold. Marie always brings energy, passion and hard work to the field and will prove to be a huge loss for the Raiders. However, this is not a final game for Griswold as she is preparing to lead her squad into sectional play starting next week.

For the young men who are led by Coach Hodge, Senior Night meant paying homage to Cam Rider, Luke Richards, Maybeck McCann, Jack English and Andrew Stewart. All players have been included in the starting eleven all year long and their impact on Trumansburg Soccer should not go un-noted . For Maybeck McCann and Cam Rider, their leadership in the defense has helped shape upcoming defender Kaeden Civiletto into an effective player. Richards and Stewart have taught young midfielders how to move and facilitate smoothly in the midfield, and English has taken freshman Richard Prosser under his wing as becoming the next goalkeeper for this Raiders club.

Thank you Seniors for the hard work and time that you have put into this strong program! Best of luck to you in the future!

After recent struggle, both our varsity soccer teams got back on track with impressive victories on Tuesday. In a back-to-back game format, the boys were up first at 4:30. Conor Baird took no time getting his name on the score sheet by striking home a bottom corner blast with his left foot. But the scoring in the first half wasn't done yet, as Andrew Stewart glided through the ill-prepared Whitney Point defenders to strike home the Raiders second goal. Capping off a great performance, Baird found the back of the net again after being fouled inside the 18-yard box and earning a penalty kick. Jack English made some crucial saves and earned himself a Senior Night shutout. He was taken out with 15 minutes left and Richard Prosser was placed in goal and earned a combine shutout. Next up for the boys is the IAC tie-breaker against Lansing on Thursday night. Come out and support! Go Raiders!

The girls game was one sided to say the least. With a final score of 9-1, the girls team handled the visiting Whitney Point Golden Eagles with ease. Taylor Miller came to play for the Raiders as she buried home 4 goals and tallied 2 assists. Quite the night for a player in Miller who has been an offensive focal point for the ladies team all season long. Joining Miller on the score sheet were sophomore workhorses Finley Edmonds (2 goals) and Jenna Seafuse who scored a solo goal. Mackenzie Mikula and Jayden Wright each scored a goal apiece. Mikula chipped the keeper from about 20 yards in a brilliant effort. It was a solid team win all around for the Lady Raiders and they look to keep the momentum rolling as they start sectionals next week. Go Raiders!
