TBXC Divisional Wrap-Up

The Girls Varsity Cross Country team captured the IAC North Divisional Title at Groton’s Stonehedges Golf Course. In a race that should have been close on paper, the Lady Raiders made it a rout by winning by 15 points when it could have come down to 1 or 2. The ladies captured their 7th IAC North Divisional Crown in a row! Molly MacQueen repeated as individual champion and did her job running a brilliant time, faster than any Trumansburg girl ever at Divisionals. Kaitlyn Feely and Ginny Clifford ran a controlled 1st mile which helped them to 1st team all-star status. "We knew the race was going to come down to the next places, and Elizabeth Dawson and Mallorie Conroy shut them down." said head coach Bryce DeSantis. Neither Trumansburg girl had ever beaten Lansing’s 4th but both were ahead of their 3rd, 4th and 5th. The Lansing Bobcats ran a spirited race so kudos to them for presenting a challenge but the Raiders would not be denied during Homecoming week. Faith de Castro, Wren Martinson and Megan Feely rounded out the top 8 and were just behind Lansing's 5th girl and ahead of their 6th and 7th, sealing the deal for the day. Congrats on their efforts and their races. The full results are below. Go Runnin' Raiders! Varsity Girls Results 1. Trumansburg 23 2. Lansing 38

3. Groton 88

4. Dryden 94

The Boys Varsity team came through in major way last evening, reclaiming the IAC North Divisional Championship from a competitive Marathon team. The victory was an impressive display of the depth that exists on the boys team, as they won despite having 3 of their varsity runners sidelined due to injury/illness. Senior Sam Ives led the way for the Runnin’ Raiders, earning 2nd place in a field of 63 runners, just missing first by one tenth of a second in a photo finish. Sophomore Aiden Begeal continues to impress, taking 7th place and covering the 3 mile course in 18:09. Junior Dominic Mikula was hot on his heels in 8th place while seniors Ollie Sugarman and Austin Voorhees nailed down the scoring for the win. A number of other runners on the team achieved PR’s (personal records) for the course, among them Elijah DeCastro, Keegan Moore and Ryan Mitchell. Freshman Alex Mitchell also made another huge leap forward in a gritty display of running on the challenging Stonehedges course.

TBXC heads to the Marion Invite next Saturday, hoping to continue their streak of performing well in big races. Go Runnin' Raiders!
