Trumansburg Soccer Wrap-Up 10/1-10/8

Our soccer teams struggled this week, finishing with a record of 2-3 between the two combined varsity teams. Up until this week, the boys team hadn't lost a game all season, alas, all good things must come to an end.

Our boys were beat 2-0 by a Lansing side that doesn't compare to our talent. Coach Hodge's team was sloppy on defense and couldn't piece anything together on offense as well. This is not the combination you want to have when playing the next best team in the division.

The woes for the boys team would continue on Thursday when they would lose a game to a passionate Dryden team. Now earlier this season, Trumansburg beat Dryden, in Dryden with a final score of 3-1, but the Purple Lions were offensively better and won 2-1. Back to back losses didn't stop the Raiders as they pushed through their obstacles and claimed a 2-0 victory against Marathon on Friday. With goals from Andrew Stewart and Evan Turkon, the Raiders got back to winning ways.

The girls team shared common struggles with the boys as their offense was lacking against Lansing on Wednesday night. The Lady Raiders fell to Lansing for the second time this year, by a score of 2-0.

It was a different approach for the ladies on Friday against Dryden where the offense made a statement. Three goals for the Raiders secured the easy victory against the weak Dryden defense.

Next up for the ladies is a home game on Tuesday at 6:30 against Whitney Point. The boys team plays Whitney Point as well at 4:30.

Go Raiders!
