The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were back in action on Saturday, October first, tearing it up at the legendary McQuaid Invitational. Over 8000 runners competed from 250 schools. The Invite draws teams from 20 states as well as Canada (yes the place with fake bacon).

The Boys team took FIRST place out of 45 teams in the Varsity Unseeded race, with Evan Whittaker leading the way and Sam Ives only a half a second behind him! It was Whittaker's first taste of real racing after dealing with a stress fracture for the last several weeks, and the team was glad to have him back. Sam Ives was followed by Dominic Mikula, Kevin Lampman, Austin Voorhees and Aiden Begeal. Only 12 small seconds separated runners 3-6, a fact that Boys Coach Clifford was very excited about.

"Our pack ran fantastic today. Everybody ran a PR today except for Evan, who is still shaking off the rust from his injury. Today's win was really a whole program win. The JV guys ran like madmen, with lots of PRs as well by Ben Haefner, Elijah Wood, Keegan Moore, Henry Hanson, and the Mitchell "Twins" Ryan and Alex. Everyone pushed each other and we were fortunate to end up on top of the podium." Congrats to the runners from TBXC on “Mastering McQuaid”.

Go Runnin’ Raiders!

Girls Cross Country also did well at the notorious McQuaid Invitational. The girls took 7th in the seeded small schools race and ran quite overall. They are on a collision course with Elmira Notre Dame for a sectional showdown in a few weeks. Molly MacQueen finished second overall in the race, averaging a 6:04 mile pace over the 3 mile course! Mallorie Conroy ran a great race and cracked the top five in the team to shore up the scoring for Trumansburg.
